Ceroc Xtra Dance classes and more improvement

You have been going to a Ceroc (modern jive) lesson at one of the venues that Ceroc Xtra does. You’re starting to get the bug for dancing and now want to dance more. This will be going to more classes so that you improve quicker. You may be thinking where else can I dance???, What is Ceroc Xtra??? and many more questions.

1.    What is Ceroc Xtra???

Ceroc Xtra is a franchise of Ceroc that is ran by Chris Baker. There are 4 classes ran on 4 days of the week. There is also a freestyle that is done on the last Friday of the month.

2.    Where else can I dance???

Classes are held Monday to Thursday at various venues in Yorkshire.

Monday – St Chad’s, Otley Road, Headingly, Leeds, LS16 5JT

Tuesday – Riley Smith Hall, 28 Westgate, Tadcaster, LS24 9JB

Wednesday – Queens Hall, (Immaculate Heart of Mary Church Hall) 294 Harrogate Road, Leeds, LS17 6LE

Thursday - St Wilfrids Church Hall, Duchy Road, Harrogate, HG1 2EY

3.    What time do the classes start???

Monday and Tuesday they start at 7:30pm and finish at 10:30pm. Wednesday and Thursday they start at 8pm and finish at 11pm.

4.    What is a freestyle??? When can I do one???

Freestyle is not a class but like in classes you get a chance to dance with lots of people. Men can ask the women and women can ask the men. Freestyle is an event where no matter how you good you are everyone dances with everyone. You can be a complete beginner to an expert. I recommend that you have done about 3 classes before going to a freestyle. You know what sorts of moves are likely to be done if you are a lady or you know some moves if you are a man. The event last 4 hours and usually starts at 8pm. You can arrive at any time you wish to. The first time you go to one you may find it very overwhelming or exciting. After doing one you may want to do as many as you can get your hands on. I will try to keep this blog updated with the list of freestyles.

5.    I have been doing the classes and going to the freestyles for a while now and I feel that I have learnt everything that I can from them. Is there anything else I can do to improve myself???

For those who are past beginners but not ready for intermediates there is sometimes a workshop put on called beginners plus. This is all to do with bridging the gap between beginners and intermediate. This is done by taking the beginners moves and extending the move to an intermediate level.

For those who want to become great intermediate dancers there are intermediate workshops. These tend to have one thing that is being focused on and expanding that.

For those who are looking to have various classes on lots of different things such as body movement, dips and drops and floor movement etc. then there is Ceroc weekenders.

For more information on workshops and when and where they will be held please speak to Chris Baker at one of the venues above.

6.    What is a Ceroc weekender???
Please see the separate blog post on Ceroc weekenders.

If you have any other questions feel free to write them below and I will try to answer them as soon as possible.
